Title:  Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) Coordinator
Reports to:  Early Years Manager
Location:  Brantford, ON
Term:  12 months per year
Hours: 40 hours per week

Niwasa Kendaaswin Teg provides wholistic programs and service for Indigenous children, youth, families and community that are rooted in culture and language. Our vision is to provide high quality programming that fosters identity formation and creates a sense of belonging.

Under the direction of the Early Years Manager and Executive Director, Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program Coordinator is responsible to promote and create partnerships within to strengthen community capacity and increase support for vulnerable pregnant women, new mothers, and newborn babies. Responsible for planning and facilitating parent education sessions. Collaborate, creating and developing a work plan and outreach activities.

Responsibilities

  • Able to support families with information and resources such as Healthy Pregnancy, Breastfeeding and Infant Nutrition, Safe Sleep, Family-Community Resources, Pre and Post-natal Nutrition, and Stop Family Violence etc.
  • Provide and assist families with assessments/screening at the prenatal stage and at birth to identify support for Indigenous children at risk and ensuring that families receive further assessments if required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Early Years Best Practices, “How Does Learning Happen?”, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years
  • Ability to support expecting women to improve their health and their newborn babies
  • CPNC will focus on making off-reserve Indigenous families stronger by encouraging the development, delivery, and evaluation of community-based and culturally appropriate services for Indigenous women and their babies up to 6 months of age.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide support and promote healthy living and nutrition through programming and activities.
  • Follow Public Health Guideline
  • Informs supervisor of any necessary upkeep, repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and supplies to ensure safety and security standards are maintained.
  • Follows all policies and procedures of Niwasa Kendaaswin Teg and all other related legislation.
  • Monthly completion and submission of all reports as required.
  • Participate in a monthly staff meeting and team meeting.
  • Will submit timesheets weekly to direct supervisor who will approve and forward to OI Payroll system.
  • May be required to work various shifts, evening and weekend hours year-round; flexibility required
  • Other duties as required or assigned by the Executive Director or delegate.
