EarlyON Program & Community Support Facilitator

ASCY Requires a Program Lead for the Position of:  EarlyON Program & Community Support Facilitator

The EarlyON Program & Community Support Facilitator will be responsible to lead and plan for professional learning and facilitate a collaborative reciprocal system-wide approach across the early years’ system of services in Hamilton. 

Responsibilities: 

Professional Learning

  • To lead and plan the ongoing professional learning of EarlyON Child & Family Centre staff identified at the Operations Committee to address trends and needs including the coordination of speakers or ASCY training, logistical details and evaluation of sessions, etc. across the early years system.
  • To work in partnership with the ASCY Professional Learning Consultants in leading the implementation of the Hamilton Early Years Quality Program (HEYQP) in the EarlyON Child & Family Centres.

Programs/Services

  • To promote, plan and continue to develop a community-wide approach for service delivery that builds on the strengths of the existing services in Hamilton.
  • To connect and work in collaboration with the EarlyON Child & Family Centre (EOCFC) Operations Committee to identify needs and gaps on a regular and ongoing basis.
  • To act as a liaison with the City Department, relevant community partners and in connecting with the broader early years system.
  • To liaise with community services and programs to develop linkages to EarlyON Child & Family Centres programs and services.
  • To coordinate partner organizations (i.e.: Check It Out Service Providers, etc.)
  • To work alongside the EarlyON Child & Family Centre Operations Committee to ensure programs/services are consistent with core programming while at the same time addressing the unique needs of neighbourhoods.
  • To lead the development of a consistent process/template to orient new staff within the EOCFCs and broader system.
  • To assist in preparing plans and providing leadership to the Operations Committee including the development of an annual work plan.
  • To participate and provide project management leadership to designated committees and working groups as requested.
  • To coordinate and/or lead system-wide marketing/promotion and outreach strategies.
  • Perform other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Registered as an Early Childhood Educator with the College of ECE and be in good standing
  • University degree in a related field would be considered an asset
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience related to Early Learning and Child Care
  • Experience in developing mentoring relationships among colleagues and in coaching / mentoring Supervisors and Early Childhood Educators
  • Proven experience in program/project development and management
  • Experience working in a variety of early learning settings and age groups an asset
  • Experience with adult education and making presentations is an asset
  • Knowledge of the early learning community in Hamilton
  • Knowledge of current issues in early learning and child care (i.e.: locally, provincially and nationally)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills to support administrative tasks including data collection, compilation and analysis
  • Ability to reason and problem solve independently and make decisions
  • Knowledge and understanding of current documents that inform the practice of Registered Early Childhood Educators
  • Strong technology skills
  • Strong knowledge of emergent curriculum, Ontario’s pedagogy, “How Does Learning Happen?” and companion documents
  • Access to transportation and, if applicable, has a valid Ontario drivers license and carries motor vehicle liability insurance on his/her vehicle
  • French language is an asset

This position will also require the ability to work flexible hours on an occasional basis and in a range of community locations throughout Hamilton.

Infant Hearing Screener-Hamilton

 

 

(6 hours alternate weekends)

Affiliated Services for Children and Youth (ASCY) is responsible for the implementation of the Early Words Preschool Speech and Language (PSL), Central South Infant Hearing (IHP) and Blind-Low Vision Early Intervention Programs.  The Infant Hearing Screener is an integral member of the Early Words team and is responsible to the Manager of the Early Words Preschool Speech and Language, Central South Infant Hearing and Blind-Low Vision Programs, in conjunction with the Executive Director of ASCY.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely screening at designated location(s) in the Central South Region (Hamilton, Brant, Niagara and Haldimand-Norfolk).
  • Maintain a schedule of hospital and community hearing screenings.
  • Data entry

Qualifications include:

  • Community College diploma:  Communicative Disorders Assistant is required
  • excellent clinical skills with preschoolers and their families
  • excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • good organizational skills
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • has access to transportation and, if applicable, has a valid Ontario driver’s license and carries motor vehicle liability insurance on his/her vehicle.

This position will also require the ability to work flexible hours on weekends and in a range of community locations.
