ECE Supply Staff

Presently we have two operating sites in the Hamilton area.  The selected candidate would be expected to be available to work at both sites, so being able to travel throughout Hamilton is a necessity.

The operating hours for our weekday programs are 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.  We also have CNC Programs that operate on Tuesday and Thursday evening 5:30-9:00 and Saturday mornings 9:00-12:30.

Job Summary:
To support the children attending The Nesting Nook in a loving and nurturing manner to foster an authentic relationship with the environment around them. Qualifications:

Duties and Responsibilities: As an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) at The Nesting Nook your duties will be primarily to implement a play based curriculum. You will be required to notice the interests of the children in your classroom and facilitate learning experiences based on these interests. You will document these learning experiences in a manner that reinforces the experience for the children and educates parents on their children’s activities. ECE’s will conduct the classroom in an inclusive manner to ensure all children experience the best learning environment.

You will be responsible to ensure children receive the recommended sleep/rest, outdoor time, private/quiet time and active time. You will be responsible for planning your classrooms activities to reflect the play based curriculum and provide new opportunities for exploration.

You will be responsible to alert the program supervisor to any health and safety concerns, areas where your classroom/students require additional support and participate in your own professional evaluations. You will attend all staff meetings to the best of your ability and participate in ongoing professional development.

You will document attendance, sleep and nutrition for your classroom. You will interact with all parents in a professional and honest manner. You may be required at times to supervise students or volunteers and follow all policies related to such.

You will display a commitment to attendance and punctuality. You may be required to work flexible shifts and help in a classroom other than your primary placement.

Working Conditions

  • The Nesting Nook is open between the hours of 6:30am to 6pm. You may be required to work any shift between these hours.
  • You will be required to physically engage in standing, bending, crouching and some lifting.
  • The Nesting Nook is licensed for 62 children. You may at times be required to assist in a classroom other than your primary placement.

  • You will be required to participate in cleaning activities. This will involve interaction with WHMIS materials.
  • At times you may need to attend training/community forums that are not on site.

Position Overview:
Under the direction of the Supervisor and Executive Director is responsible for providing quality early learning experiences for children 0-6 years. Must also work directly with parents/caregivers, and perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator with a minimum of 2 years experience in a variety of early learning settings and age groups.
  • Working knowledge of the Ontario Early Learning Framework.
