Job Summary: To support the staff at The Nesting Nook to ensure the children are cared for in a loving and nurturing manner to foster an authentic relationship with the environment around them. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As a Supervisor at The Nesting Nook you will be primarily responsible for the day to day operations of the centre.
  • You will be responsible to ensure children receive the recommended sleep/rest, outdoor time, private/quiet time and active time. You will be responsible for supervising the classrooms activities to ensure they reflect the play based curriculum and provide new opportunities for exploration.
  • You will attend/lead staff meetings to the best of your ability and participate in ongoing professional development. You may at times be asked to run training for staff. You will be responsible to keep updated on current best practices and implementation of best practices within the centre.
  • You will interact with all parents in a professional and honest manner. You may be required at times to supervise students or volunteers and follow all policies related to such.
  • You will review all Policies and Procedures at The Nesting Nook, sign off that they have been read and abide by such. You will update policy and procedures accordingly as systems change and grow. You will maintain confidentiality regarding all information pertaining to the centres children, their parents and staff.
  • You will complete the day to day administration of the centre including relevant inspections, medication administration and ensure that the staff are following the Program Statement and Implementation Policy. You will be responsible to alert the Owner to any health and safety concerns.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring all children and staff files are kept up to date. This includes keeping track of policy reviews, staff requirements and up to date personal information.
  • You will be asked to sit on professional networks and committees to ensure that we are kept up to date and involved in all areas of the field and city planning.
  • You will be required to keep an up-to-date membership with the College of ECE’s. Along with this you are required to keep an up-to-date log and personal portfolio of your professional learning and participate in the Continuous Professional Learning Program through the College of ECE’s.
  • You will display a commitment to attendance and punctuality. You may be required to work flexible shifts and help in a classroom or another front line position if staffing numbers are low due to illness/scheduled lunches/breaks.
  • You may at times be called upon to assist in disciplinary action of staff up to and including terminations.
  • You will be required to treat all other staff at The Nesting Nook with respect. Should there be a difference that is not able to be resolved between two staff members it is the responsibility of the staff members involved to seek assistance from the Supervisor/Operators in a timely manner. At no time will harassment or bullying of another staff member be tolerated.

Working Conditions

  • The Nesting Nook is open between the hours of 6:30 am to 6:00 pm. You may be required to work any shift between these hours.
  • You will be required to physically engage in standing, bending, crouching and some lifting.
  • Indoor/Outdoor activities such as playground inspections
  • You will at times be required to participate in cleaning activities. This will involve interaction with WHMIS materials.
  • At times you may need to attend training/community forums that are not on site

  • Responsible for managing a petty cash. Purchases snack supplies and follows a snack menu plan
  • Plan, organize and lead activities for children 3.8 to 12 years of age to meet the developmental needs of children. Program numbers range from 10 to 90 children in attendance

Job Description. We are searching for an experienced self-directed team player to help us grow. Reporting to the Executive Director (ED) the Telling Tales Administrator will play a key role by providing administrative and data support to the team.

Responsibilities

  1.       Salesforce data management
    a.       Update and maintain contacts in database as directed by Coordinator and ED
    b.       Work with Volunteer Coordinator on volunteers for Salesforce as required
    c.       Update fundraising information as directed by ED and running reports
    d.       Regular ​online/self-directed ​training work to keep up with developments in Sale​s​force
  1.       Festival and Events​
  2.       Monitor RSVPs for events and keep track of numbers
    b.       Create support materials as required (e.g. VIP bags, name badges)
    c.       Distribute promotional materials as required (bookmarks, programs, posters)
    d.       Assist with mailings- including printing, prepping and posting
  1.       Fundraising/Financial 
  2.       Assist ED directly and Treasurer, Chair and Bookkeeper indirectly administratively.
  3.      Thank you notes to sponsors/donors
    c.       Monitor Paypal Account
  4.   Assist in managing key documents relating to the board secretarial duties.
  5. If time allows – research prospective partners

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Experience with Salesforce CRM database management preferred.
  • Minimum of one years ‘related experience providing program and/or administrative support to management;
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Skills/Behaviours:

  • Effective written communication
  • Effective organizational, and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player

Estimated hours – 6 hours a week – 24 hours a month.

Although we are a volunteer organization, we are able to offer an annual contract fee of $4000
