KEY FUNCTIONS:
Work collaboratively with the Centre Staff and Child Care Supervisor by ensuring the efficient daily operation and activity in an Early Learning and Licensed Child Care Centre. Implement a quality program for children 18 months to 12 years based on the Emergent Curriculum, in keeping with the YWCA mission, vision and values and working in compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2017.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have relevant education; working towards; or combined education and experience working with children age 18 months to 12 years
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work various shifts including opening and closing
  • Must be able to plan and implement a program for children 18 months to 12 years of age using “How Does Learning Happen?” and the ELECT documents
  • Must have and demonstrate good judgment
  • Work effectively to solve problems both independently and within a team
  • Experience in a licensed child care setting
  • Experience working in a diverse community and setting
  • Must be able to attend and participate in staff meetings
  • Must provide a valid current Vulnerable Sector Police Check or willingness to obtain at own cost
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training such as but not limited to WHMIS, Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI)
  • Must have a current Emergency First Aid or willingness to obtain
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) training an asset
  • Must provide a TB test, proof of Tetanus (within 10 years) and proof of MMR immunizations
  • Must be willing to provide a current medical assessment or willingness to obtain
  • Must have basic administrative skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Work from a feminist and anti-oppressive/anti-racist perspective
  • Bilingual English / French or other languages are an asset
  • Attend and participate in all YWCA Hamilton mandatory training

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Dedicated and experienced individuals with a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) backgrounds
  • Experience working with children
  • Demonstrates empathy, understanding, excellent listening skills and maturity
  • Works well in a team setting and independently
