Description:

  • The EarlyON Facilitator will be responsible for creating the development and delivery of inclusive and culturally responsive and appropriate learning environment that reflects effective practices; facilitating developmentally appropriate, educational, supportive and interactive programs that address unique community needs.
  • The EarlyON Facilitator will adhere to the College of Early Childhood Educators Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as well as the requirements of the Child Care Early Years Act.

Educational Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

  • Must hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology, OR
  • A diploma from a recognized post-secondary program recognized by the College of Early Childhood Educators, OR
  • A letter of recognition of equivalency issued by the Association of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario (AECEO)
  • Must be a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • 1-2 years experience working with children and families

Qualifications:

  • Years of Experience: 1-5 years
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario,
  • Knowledge of Ontario’s pedagogy, “How Does Learning Happen?” and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)

Description:

  • Develop and implement daily activities that support and promote “How Does Learning Happen?” Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years, as well as the Centres Program Statement.
  • Under the direction of the Program Supervisor, care for the children to ensure that the Program Statement is being implemented.
  • Prepare and/or arrange for necessary program materials.

  • Under the direction of the Childcare Supervisor, assure that all the facilities and equipment are kept clean, safe and in good repair.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining on-going communication with parents in a sensitive and respectful manner.
  • Be aware of a child-care worker’s responsibility under the Child Protection Act with respect to the welfare of children attending the program.

KEY FUNCTIONS:
YWCA Hamilton is seeking Before & After School Program Staff to assist with the development and implementation of YWCA Hamilton Before & After School Programs

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must have knowledge and implements all aspects of the Child Care and Early Years Act, Child Care Manual, Human Resources Policy Manual
  • Assist with planning and implementing innovative weekly program plans that are age appropriate, meet individual and group needs according to YWCA philosophy
  • Ensure classroom environment is kept neat and clean

  • Deliver meals to classrooms, wash dishes, laundry requirements daily

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with parents, co-workers, support staff, parents and community partners
  • Administer authorized medications and creams in accordance to the policy
  • Provide vigilant supervision of all participants at all times and ensure safety and security of everyone;
  • Participate in annual Health & Safety training provided by the YWCA
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training such as but not limited to WHMIS, Anti-Racism Anti Oppression Training (ARAO)
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Dedicated and experienced individuals with a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) backgrounds
  • Experience working with children
  • Demonstrates empathy, understanding, excellent listening skills and maturity
  • Works well in a team setting and independently
  • Experience working with youth and understand common and current issues they are facing
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Supervisor on and off site
  • Experience working in a diverse community and setting
  • Attend and participate in staff and team meetings
  • Proficiency with MS Office Applications including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Working from a feminist, anti-oppressive /anti-racist perspective
  • Must provide a valid current Vulnerable Sector Police Check or willingness to obtain at own cost
  • Must have Current Emergency First Aid or willingness to obtain
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training such as but not limited to WHMIS, Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI)
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) training an asset
  • Bilingual English / French or other languages are an asset
