We are looking for candidates that have Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators. We are looking for a candidate with leadership skills, administration knowledge, and strong program facilitation. Within this role you will be mentoring positive, responsive interactions with children as well as giving guidance to support active supervision.

Role information:
● Report to the Supervisor of Early Learning and Child Care
● Act in accordance with all relevant legislation including the Child Care Early Years Act
● Full-time position
● Valid driver license and reliable transportation required – please note must use a vehicle as primary mode of transportation
● This positions initial locations will be at Viscount and Parkdale Elementary School supporting the Before and After School Programs

Qualifications:

Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario, Knowledge of Ontario’s pedagogy, “How Does Learning Happen?” and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Supervisory Experience, Experience in working with various age groups (i.e.: infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten, 6 to 8 years), knowledge and understanding of the Hamilton Community, Standard First Aid and CPR “C”, Current Vulnerable Sector Check, Work as a member of a team, Doctor Certified Health Assessment and up to date in immunization, TB Test, Willingness to participate in: Staff Meetings, Professional Learning opportunities, etc.

Salary Range: $57,817.44 annually

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with children as our partners to co-create experiences to investigate, explore, and amplify their interests.

• Consider and explore a wide variety of approaches to early learning, including Reggio-Emilia Approach, Play-based and Project-based Learning, Outdoor Education,

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Supervisor will be responsible for the ongoing operation of two high-quality childcare centres that serve children ages 0-12 years of age. The successful candidate will provide supervision and leadership to a team of staff; Work in alignment with How Does Learning Happen ensuring that each of the 4 foundations are implemented; Maintain administration of all licenses, inspections and other related documentation; Support the partnership between child care and school staff; Ensure overall financial management of the Centre and complete administrative tasks as required; and support and facilitate strong partnerships with community partners.

Qualifications:

College Diploma (or equivalent) in Early Childhood Education is required;
Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), member in good standing;
Five (5) years of experience working within a childcare centre and two (2) years of people management experience;
Experience working within a unionized environment is considered an asset;
Working knowledge of applicable employment and child care legislation and regulations, to carry out job responsibilities;
Working knowledge and skill to provide professional expertise and guidance to directly supervised employees;
Additional training related to infant care would be considered an asset;
Strong working knowledge of the CCEYA is required;
A Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check, food handler’s certificate and standard first aid CPR-C are also required;

Salary Range: CA$30.00 – CA$33.00 per hour
