Qualifications:

Years of Experience: 1-5 years

Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario, Knowledge of Ontario’s pedagogy, “How Does Learning Happen?” and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Experience in working with various age groups (i.e.: infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten, 6 to 8 years), knowledge and understanding of the Hamilton Community, Standard First Aid and CPR “C”, Current Vulnerable Sector Check, Work as a member of a team, Doctor Certified Health Assessment and up to date in immunization, TB Test, Willingness to participate in: Staff Meetings, Professional Learning opportunities, etc.

Type of Program: Young Parent Transitional Housing Program with Outreach into Community

Description: The Early Literacy Specialist role is to identify literacy, communications, social and emotional child development issues through early and routine developmental screening with Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ) and proactive Early Literacy supports.

You will develop individualized plans for children with identified issues, provide strategies for young parents at home, facilitate early literacy programming, make referrals for speech and language services, healthcare providers and other developmental early intervention supports.

Qualifications:

Years of Experience: 1-5 years

Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario, Knowledge of Ontario’s pedagogy, “How Does Learning Happen?” and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Experience in working with various age groups (i.e.: infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten, 6 to 8 years), knowledge and understanding of the Hamilton Community, Food Handlers’ Certificate, Standard First Aid and CPR “C”, Current Vulnerable Sector Check, Work as a member of a team, Doctor Certified Health Assessment and up to date in immunization, TB Test, Willingness to participate in: Staff Meetings, Professional Learning opportunities, etc.

Salary Range: $22.48
