The role of the Resource Consultant is to provide oversight for an assigned caseload of licensed child care centres, both actively receiving service and those not currently doing so, to facilitate the adoption of programs, provide resources and execute best practices that facilitate the meaningful inclusion of children (0 – 12 years of age) in all aspects of their programs.
As well, the Resource Consultants act as a resource to families of children with special needs by providing information, support, education, referral and advocacy.

Responsibilities:

The Resource Consultant is to ensure each licensed child care centre within the assigned caseload has access to the necessary information and resources to ensure the meaningful inclusion of special needs children, providing the maximum opportunity for growth and development.

  • Complete assessments on children to identify strengths, functional skills, responsiveness, interactions and learning style, and establish whether enhanced classroom support is warranted
  • Encourage and support classroom teachers in the implementation of strategies
  • Implement strategies with children on a one-to-one basis (as/if needed) within a class-wide approach
  • Model strategies for teachers and/or support facilitators
  • Provide assistance/guidance as needed to families to facilitate their involvement
  • Support identified children through the transition to school process
  • Develop individualized service plans/strength and goals list
  • Facilitate service plan meetings

  • Lead and coordinate the recruiting and hiring process for all program staff

Wee Watch Stoney Creek/East Hamilton Mountain is looking for an enthusiastic child care professional to join our family. This unique opportunity as a Home Visitor is an essential role in our Agency and entails a diversity of responsibilities. The Home Visitor acts as a liaison between the Provider and the Wee Watch home childcare Agency ensuring that the home of our Providers meet and exceed all Wee Watch and Ministry of Education standards for safety, nutrition and care. Key responsibilities include:

1. Conduct Home Visits

  • Leverage RECE expertise to ensure that all homes/Providers are in compliance with Wee Watch policies and procedures and Ministry of Education regulations
  • Conduct unscheduled monthly and quarterly home visits to all Providers to assess compliance to standards and provide guidance and support on programming and child guidance techniques
  • Maintain accurate records and complete visit reports, assist Providers in completing their regular communication reports for parents
  • Plan and schedule your visits and follow-up visits according to case load and requirements related to number of Providers, new children, new Providers each month

2. Provider and Parent support

  • Mentor and support Wee Watch childcare Providers to help them implement all requirements in their homes, including completing reports

3. Agency support

  • Plan and deliver Professional Development workshops to Providers, including annual Rules and Regulations Meeting

  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects and stand for a prolonged period of time

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years cooking experience
  • Must have food handlers’ certificate
  • Knowledge of the Canada’s Food Guide
  • Flexible to support multiple locations

  • 2 Step TB Test Results
  • Updated Immunizations (Tetanus, MMR)
