Registered Early Childhood Educator

Maawdoo Maajaamin Child Care

Type of Position: Full-time
Hours of Work: 7:30 to 5:00 Daily hours
Number of hours per week: 37.5
Shifts: Varied
Type of Program: Licensed Child Care Centre

Description: To supervise the children in the assigned classroom in accordance with the philosophy of the Centre and provincial and federal legislation and guidelines by:

  • ensuring the safety and physical well-being of the children.
  • carrying out curriculum on a daily basis and evaluation of the effectiveness of the program in terms of meeting the needs of the children in all stages of development.
  • maintaining regular communication with parents.
  • contributing to the effective operation of the overall child care program while promoting and
    implementing practices of Anishnabek heritage.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of Ojibwe culture is an asset.

Years of Experience: 1-5 years

Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario, Knowledge of Ontario’s pedagogy, “How Does Learning Happen?” and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Food Handlers’ Certificate, Standard First Aid and CPR “C”, Current Vulnerable Sector Check, Work as a member of a team, Doctor Certified Health Assessment and up to date in immunization, TB Test, Willingness to participate in: Staff Meetings, Professional Learning opportunities, etc.

Salary Range: $45,630-$68,400 -not inclusive of WEG

Position Details: Wages and hours to be discussed at the time of the interview.
