Description: Screener/Runner – St. Mary’s

The responsibility of the screener is to ask a series of questions related to COVID-19. All individuals, including children, parents/guardians, staff and essential visitors must be screened upon arrival. If any of these people fail the screening process the screener does not permit entrance into the building. The screener does not permit children, staff, or essential visitors who are ill to enter into the child care setting. If a child is permitted entrance, the screener takes the child to their group or cohort. This role may include additional cleaning responsibilities as well as supervising a child who is being isolated due to illness.

Preferably, you will have graduated from Secondary School and have experience working with children.

We offer a wide range of early learning and child care programs as well as parental support programs to help children every step of the way.

Today’s Family requires Early Childhood Educators (ECE) to join to join our agency and provide quality and inclusive care for children aged infancy to school age. The primary role is ensuring the implementation of safe environments that highlight responsive interactions between children and staff, and promote the pedagogy as laid out in the How Does Learning Happen? (2014) document. The ECE’s will provide a sense of belonging, well-being, expression and engagement to the children in our program while adhering to all policies and procedures of the agency.

We are seeking ECEs and qualified individuals who are eager to learn, work hard, and have fun in various hours between 7AM to 6PM as Supply employee in the Haldimand/Norfolk Regions . We will foster the joy of learning through play with every child.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, engage and assist children in daily activities (play and inquiry)
  • Maintain adherence to all policies and procedures, including safety requirements, medical plans
  • Record necessary information pertinent to each child
  • Provide a warm, safe, and caring environment that is kept orderly, clean, and appealing
  • Plan, prepare, and implement daily activities (indoor/outdoor) responsive to child’s needs and interests
  • Nurture children’s healthy development and sense of well being by assisting with basic needs (feeding, rest, diapering/ toileting, self-care, etc.)
  • Collaborate with other staff members to form a positive, supportive classroom team atmosphere.
  • Ensure confidentiality of privileged information
  • Create a program environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the physical, social, and emotional development of students with an emphasis on language development and emergent literacy skills
  • Maintain open, friendly, and authentic relationship with each child’s family and encourage their involvement in the program
  • Contribute to a community of life-long learning through attending professional learning opportunities

You bring the following qualifications:

  • Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act
  • Actively plan and participate in all programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of the emergent curriculum approach
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check including Vulnerable Screening
  • Standard First Aid Certification (WSIB Approved) within past three years
  • CPR/AED Level C Certification (WSIB Approved) within the past year

  • Knowledge and understanding of compliance regulations and appropriate legislation
