What might clay invite us to notice?
Join us for a small gathering of educators inspired by reflections from the recent Clay Conference with Reggio Children and ASCY. Together, we will slow down, enter into dialogue, and encounter clay as a material for thinking, remembering, imagining, and wondering.
Clay is a natural material with a story of its own. It carries traces, impressions, and memories. It changes in our hands, from cold to warm, wet to dry, soft to resistant. It can be shaped, transformed, revistited, and imagined anew.
Through hands-on exploration and conversation, we will consider:
What clay might open up in our everyday learning environments
Clay as a language for expressing ideas and theories through the hands and senses
The possibilities that emerge when children engage in sustained encounters with clay
Documentation as a way of slowing down and making visible the traces of thinking
