Join us as we discuss the book by Jonathan Haidt that argues that there has been a “great rewiring” of childhood, from play-based time to phone-based, and how this is causing a mental health epidemic among young people. The book argues that the rise of smartphones and social media, coupled with overprotective parenting, has replaced essential offline experiences like free play, leading to increased anxiety, depression, and self-harm in Gen Z. Come out and discuss ideas and some solutions for this issue.
Books can be borrowed from the ASCY Professional Resource Library but must be picked up by January 14, 2026.
Facilitated by: ASAP Team
DATES: January 28, February 11, and 25, 2026
