BGCHH – Hamilton East Boys and Girls Club

Position: Part-time Registered Early Childhood Educator

Hours of Work: 7am-9am to 2:30pm – 6pm Daily hours
Shifts: Varied
Type of Program: Before and After School Program

Our highly trained staff and volunteers are caring role models who use an individualized, strength-based approach and engage Club members to play, learn, and develop essential life skills. We create caring environments that are safe, inclusive and fun. Our Clubs are located in neighbourhoods where they need us most. We emphasize flexible programs based on local needs, the interests of our participants, and the diversity, character and identity of their communities.

The successful candidate will have scheduled split shifts from 7:00am-9:00am and 2:30pm-6:00pm from Monday to Friday.

The Educator will facilitate a before and after school program in our Early Learning Child Care classrooms at our Prince of Wales Elementary School location.

The ideal candidate will have:
• A commitment to the Clubs mission, Vision and Core Values
• Ideally registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators
• Equivalency programs such as Educational Assistant, Recreation & Leisure, Child & Youth Worker, Ontario College of Teachers, or current enrollment in an ECE diploma program are assets
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
• Valid First Aid/CPR Level C (Red Cross preferred)
• Completion of a pre-medical assessment (to be provided

Qualifications:

Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario, Knowledge of Ontario’s pedagogy, “How Does Learning Happen?” and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Experience in working with various age groups (i.e.: infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten, 6 to 8 years), knowledge and understanding of the Hamilton Community, Food Handlers’ Certificate, Standard First Aid and CPR “C”, Current Vulnerable Sector Check, Work as a member of a team, Doctor Certified Health Assessment and up to date in immunization, TB Test, Willingness to participate in: Staff Meetings, Professional Learning opportunities, etc.

Salary Range: $22.40 – $26.50
