Position: Full-time Registered Early Childhood Educator, Toddler Montessori Guide (contract)
Contract Time Period: March 2025 (for 12 – 18 months)
Hours of Work: 8:30 to 4:30 Daily hours
Number of hours per week: 40 hours
Type of Program: Licensed Child Care Centre, CCMA-accredited Montessori School
Description:
Stoney Creek Montessori School is CCMA-accredited and seeking a Toddler Guide to cover a maternity leave starting in March 2025. We’re looking for someone trained in Toddler Montessori to join and support our warm, authentic classroom.
The ideal candidate should be:
- An AMI or MACTE-accredited Infant/Toddler Guide, or student
- Experienced in observation, program and lesson planning, lesson presentation and record keeping
- Skilled in preparing a Toddler environment, including material-making to support the changing needs of the children
- Able to model grace and courtesy to students and staff at all times
- A nurturing educator with a demonstrated enthusiasm for working with children, who is willing to go the extra mile to build an engaging and inspirational classroom community
- Excellent at interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Excellent at working collaboratively with administration, program leads, assistants and support staff to create the very best environment for all children and staff to thrive
- Experienced in using Google Docs and Sheets, WhatsApp, and Transparent Classroom
- Able to work legally in Canada (sponsorship is not available)
All candidates must possess:
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR C + AED
- Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check (less than 6 months old)
- Updated immunization record, current to all City of Hamilton vaccination requirements
- A record of health assessment from a health care practitioner (less than 6 months old)
- Fluency in French, current Food Handler certification, and RECE registration are assets
- Years of Experience: 1-5 years
- Knowledge of Ontario’s pedagogy, “How Does Learning Happen?” and the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), knowledge and understanding of the Hamilton Community, Willingness to participate in: Staff Meetings, Professional Learning opportunities, etc.
- Other: An A.M.I. or MACTE-accredited Infant/Toddler Guide, or student
